John Knuteson is a professional architect, designer, and scholar based in St. Louis, Missouri.  Originally from Southeastern Virginia, he received a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech in 2014.  He is a licensed architect in the state of Illinois and has over six years of professional experience. John previously practiced in Chicago, where he worked on mid- to large-scale residential and hospitality projects and workplace interiors.  He has skill sets in interior design and specification, rendering and visualization, and project documentation and coordination, with extensive experience in project delivery using AutoDesk Revit.

John also holds a Master of Science in Architectural Studies from Washington University in St. Louis.  His primary research interests lie in architectural drawing, media, and representation, and how these engage architectural practice through questions of agency and authorship.  His master's thesis considered the role of drawings in architectural practice around the beginning of the twentieth century, and focused on the work of Chicago architects and delineators Marion Mahony and Elizabeth Kimball Nedved.
